Nathanael Greene letters, 1781-1782.

This collection contains two letters, one from Nathanael Greene to Governor Rutledge, 1781, and the other from Thomas Koscuisyko to Greene, 1782. The first letter is regarding measure to force the British to evacuate Charleston and mentions the possibility of using African American troops. The second letter is regarding the British evacuation of Charleston.

In response to the expansion of the Continental Army the number of staff was increased and reorganized in 1776. Changes included the creation of a new unit to supplement George Washington's personal staff.
